The Fly is a film that Matte made during a period of quarantine isolation due to COVID. He was unsatisfied with the work that he was doing in his BFA program over zoom, so he figured he would create something he could actually be proud of. After 1 month of filming, 3 months of claymation, and 2 months of editing it was complete.
The Fly documents a man dealing with isolation thinking he has his life together until he begins dealing with a pest.
Matte Kranz has won many awards for this short including Best Narrative Short at Hollywood International Golden Age Festival, Best Short at Phoenix International Short Film Festival, was an Honorable Mention at Santa Monica International Film Festival, and more.
